The concept of "Blockhaus" comes from the German, and literally means "house of blocks". This word is currently used to define the type of wooden houses built from tree trunks embedded together, to lift the walls. A type of building very rustic and typical of the mountainous areas of northern Europe for many centuries.
Nowadays they are back in fashion due to their robust aesthetics and their insulating features, and the warmth and comfort that these rustic style homes generate.
