Teulat isolated with cork

Insulation with cork and windows on the ceiling to have luminosity.

In October 2016, we made the cork-insulated roof on the whole deck of a country house in Planes d'Hostoles, in la Garrotxa (Girona).

The roof structure of the house was made with solid wood beams, machined in Matioska's workshop, and solid-wood tongue and groove planks. Aluminum windows with double glazing were also put in the roof to gain natural luminosity in the upstairs rooms.

The insulation with cork is a very good solution both thermal and acoustic for the performance of this natural and sustainable material. The cork has an internal structure of small cells that absorb very well the noise, besides being a light material, very resistant and with much durability.

The finish of the roof was with arabian tile to give the house the conventional appearance of the roofs of a rural environment.
